Pathway Overview

In this Pathway we will focus on understanding the habits of mind that students should develop and the classroom practices that should be implemented in order to support students in achieving their highest level of mathematical expertise. By the end of this Pathway, you should be able to assess your students’ development of and your classroom practices for providing opportunities for the development of mathematical expertise.

Learning Objectives

Objective 1: Participants will be able to describe mathematical expertise

Objective 2: Participants will be able to define student behaviors that can be used as evidence of the development of mathematical expertise

Objective 3: Participants will be able to identify classroom practices that support the development of mathematical expertise

Objective 4: Participants will be able to plan for changes in their current classroom practice in order to support the development of mathematical expertise

Impact on Classroom Practice and Student Learning

As a result of this Pathway, participants will be able to assess their students for development of mathematical expertise and be able to assess their practice for providing opportunities for development of mathematical expertise.
